To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Power level reports 3 levels, when at least 4 would be useful -- no change in report between 100% and "more than 50%, so 51% and 100% get the same reading. Also, flashing power indicator is obscuredd by a finger whih must hold the button to get the test, so the light should be moved elsewhere.
Probably there enough functions to prefer 3-4 buttons to the supplied two.
Buttons are inoperable with even light liner gloves, and difficult with bare fingers -- this really really needs to be fixed to warrant more than 3 stars.
Quality control is so lacking that the non-functioning red flasher on mine came through. Testing all the modes on each light should be done as a matter of course before packiging. This gets the rating down to 2 stars.
The next generation would hopefully allow at least 360 lumens in continous operation without stepping down to 190lm.
I have not had a moonless night to test all the levels so will pass on those.
Battery life in youtube tests are not really bad but quite a bit more is desirable for many use scenarios.
Unfortunately, I have to downgrade this review. The battery life on full power is under an hour before the max brightness drops to the second power level, which is too low for anything except close range inside work. I'd estimate 30 minutes max. I really am disappointed.
This headlight was not terribly expensive, but I've purchased better headlights for half the price. It is light weight, it fits on my head nicely, easy to move around, but doesn't shed much light on anything. It isn't really bright enough to use for evening workouts. It might be fine if you need a light to walk from your car to your house. It would also work well as a headband to hold your hair out of your face - this is why I did not give the lamp 2 stars instead of 1.
I ended up returning this headlamp and purchasing a Petzl. While it is very light weight and comfortable, the light output was very poor. I compared it with a Petzl that my running partner had. Their light had 100 lumens less output, yet was much brighter than this one. I made sure that it was fully charged a couple of times but it didnt get any better.
The unit is very light and recharging is very quick. However, I will say the 360 lumens is overstated. It is not that bright. I have to keep it on the highest setting to get a decent view at 5 in the morning. The spread is also quite minimal and no way to adjust. Lastly, even though the recharge capability is nice, I am having to plug in 2x per week. Not my favorite light. Will be my camping nighttime bathroom headlamp.
it light weight, its comfortable,it just doesnt put out enough light for my taste my phone puts off more light and carries further, wanna know more check out youtube" the outdoor gear review" on this item, lays it all out
Purchased late February 2019 and by mid October 2019(10-10-19)has failed. Only used a handful of times and has always performed as expected. Yesterday it started turning on by itself, even when it's "locked". Today it's still doing that as well as started flashing "sos" with the brightest white light, which is not an advertised feature. I like it, would like to buy another, but if 8 months of occasional use is the expected life span, I'll go back to the cheap'o Walmart version.
