5.0 out of 5 stars This is the perfect book to answer my questions, worries in this special period.

I borrowed this book from my local library and it took me two weeks to finish it. Actually I could finish reading quite early but it is too harsh to complete such a wonderful book full of intelligence in a short time. I read three to five articles every bedtime sometimes I even doubt it is written or presented by God to answer my question just at the perfect time.

I love it and I will keep it with me closely, especially when I cannot keep hungry and foolish.

I really enjoyed the short antidotes written in bite sized chunks. I bought several for friends for Xmas 🎄...it helps me when I’m in shadow times.

This is a wonderful book; clear, concise and beautifully presented. Shunmyo Masuno, the author of this book, is leader of a 450 year-old Buddhist temple and is also an expert Zen garden designer, so is in a very well-suited position to advise readers on the beauty of Zen.

The book consists of 100 'daily practices' you can change to make your life more meaningful and spiritually sound. In a world dominated by technology and a move away from nature, where mental illness is becoming a global epidemic, Masuno's guide is the olive branch everyone should possess in their library of books for healing the mind.

These practices are simple, relatively easy-to-do and effective. Though I haven't had time to fully delve into putting these practices into practice (excuse the awful language), I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to find more happiness, peace, love, or spirituality in their life.

I would ESPECIALLY recommend this to mental health sufferers like myself. To me, Masuno's words ring out with so with empathy and yet sensible knowledge, perfectly applicable for the modern day. Get this book: it could help change your life for the better, one small change at a time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thought provoking and interesting.

He is less poetic in his prose style than Zen master and author Thich Nhat Hanh, but no less amazing in his insights for that. The message is a universal one and will appeal to all who want to attain wisdom and let loose the shackles of spiritual materialism which accompany rigid dogma and an unthinking adherence to repetitive ritual. Nothing short of a concise, complete guide to all that is important in life is waiting to be discovered here and the illustrations throughout are wonderful and an inducement to meditation on their own. If Buddhist spirituality is your thing, this volume cones highly recommended.

A beautifully presented collection of simple ideas and thoughts to spark positive change – 5 Stars

I’m so glad I purchased this book; dipping in to its pages is a feast for the eyes and a breath of fresh air for the mind. Hardback, and an ideal size to drop into a bag or backpack, I read this as much while I’m out in the open as when I’m indoors. Drawing on principles from Feng Shui, Japanese horticulture, mindfulness, meditation, and Buddhist philosophy, this volume contains one hundred suggestions of ways in which we can enrich our lives.

Illustrated throughout, the artwork is as gentle in its design as are the words on each page. The ideas expressed within present small changes that require very little (if any) material input, instead they encourage a shift in perception and habits. Paying attention to small details in our environment, and even to mundane tasks, requires a focus that naturally reduces the ‘busyness’ of the mind. The outcome, as the author explains, is both kinder to ourselves and to those we encounter.

For anyone looking for an introduction to Zen values, wanting help dealing with stress, or simply trying to find the essence of what makes them happy, then this book is a great place to start. Whilst the concepts are presented with a child-like simplicity, mastering the mind-set it advocates takes practise and dedication. However, adopting just a few of the ideas suggested quickly brings positive results and an improved sense of well-being that makes practising a pleasure.

I love, love this book! I bought it as a Christmas present for myself from my sister and it is simply lovely. I have read it once and had to turn lots of corners of top pages - meaning I found something really relevant to myself and my life on that page. Will now re-read it. I found that the wise words emanated from the pages and infused me with calm - most unusual!! All I can say is how very much I enjoyed it and would hence recommend it. Thank you Shunmyo Masuno

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have, a wonderful read.

This book embodies a form of art. Its simplicity in words reminds of subtle strokes of colour. Every page is filled with a quiet and simple feeling of guidance towards lightness, the appreciation of emptiness, loneliness, and at the same time it creates a path towards tuning in with the world, people, things, opportunities. Perfect for those, like me, who have just but started taking steps within the Zen philosophy. I am very happy to have finished this book on New Year’s Eve, it has helped enhance its already precious value as a wonderful reading.
