Droll, witty, humorous and touching. Worth this book were getting a sneak insight into what makes Louis Rick and wheat inspires him to continue to find the most interesting people that populate his documentaries. As enjoyable as his shows and if you're an admirer of his works, you'll no doubt enjoy this too.
I have been a fan of Louis Theroux's for years now so I was looking forward to reading this book.
It took me a while to get through because it wasn't some sort of light and breezy book. It was written in a formal, complex style and there were quite a few words I had no idea about! Especially the French ones, since I have never studied the language. All that aside, I really enjoyed it.
I was heartened to read that Louis in real life is the same sort of person he comes across in his documentaries. I loved that he was so open about the things that he could have done a little better in his personal life - his wife sounds like a very patient woman, lol.
All in all, this is a good book for fans to read, especially if you have seen the documentaries that he is talking about. I got a bit sick of hearing about Jimmy Savile by the end of it - I get that it must have been a shock that the person you interviewed turns out to be a paedophile etc but at a certain point, you have to let go of the guilt and angst!
Honestly honest and everything examined inside out - Louis’ memoir of his life and career - an amazingly moving read. He brings the reader inside his experience or inside his head as much as focusing the camera and questions on the subjects of his documentaries. I find nothing weird in his work or in his existence in fact - we need people of his abilities to hold up the mirrors to ourselves - and others so that we can more easily understand. This brief moment of existence...
This is an excellent book and has many laughs..... so I've read from the reviews, just want to give Louis 5 stars so he gets more than David Cameron. I've purchased the book but still to read it I'm sure I'll enjoy it
