5.0 out of 5 starsGreat read

Another great offering from Joy Ellis with the Fen's team with DI Jackman and DS Marie Ellis. This time the plot involves theft of designer clothing, steroid smuggling and abduction with several bands of "Fagin" run teenagers. There is a sub-plot of an officer coming back to the station who has it in for Marie, which was very convincing. A terrific hard to put down read.

The story moved along nicely and there weren't to many holes to worry about. It hasn't left me being a fan though.

This had me staying up very late at night to finish as I couldn't wait to get to the end and find the guilty one.. I had guessed wrong who I thought it was.. I have read all Joy Ellis's books so far available on Amazon and this was just as good as any.. held me to the end in a thrilling book.. Hope there is more to come..

Most enjoyable reading with the reader kept immersed in developments until towards the end, when all is revealed.
Believable modern themes and interaction of characters resulted in a four star allocation.

Another good story and well written by Joy Ellis. The characters are excellent and believable.
I didn’t like the subject matter of the stolen, suffering boys. I felt quite upset that boys in the real world might be suffering like that.

Another police procedural written to keep you awake. Like the idea of several often unrelated plots. The characters Townsend ,Evans etc are well developed
I like the Yorkshire area so these are even more fun and joyful to read

This was a real page turner. An unusual plot combinjng up market clothing & smuggling. So many subplots that finally joined together in the final pages. Another one that was hard to put down.

As the author wanted the reader to keep guessing - she did a good job. While it would not necessarily reveal the outcome, it would have helped if a little more description had been inserted towards the end of the story.

Another thrilling story from Joy Ellis. This series is excellent, very ‘could happen in real life’ sort of storyline. Looking forward to the next in the series.

Julle Bierling
3.0 out of 5 stars Light characterisation of main characters, villains and goodies. Some personal drama resolved in predictable manner. Real crimes not detailed but just peripheral commentary. Black market in designer clothes way over the top. Some nice characters but no depth to them. Yet it paints a grim picture of some aspects of lower suburban UK life, dreary and crime riddled society.

Light characterisation of main characters, crimes not detailed and not plausible. Trade in clothes for large sums unlikely , predictable plot.
