When I first assembled this machine, the monitor didn't work. After having days of difficulty getting a response from their customer service, they offered to replace the monitor. I was fine with that, but then they told me it would be over a month to replace it because of production problems overseas. They offered to replace the whole machine with a newer model. I have since received, assembled, and tested out this model, it seems to work fine. The rowing action on the machine (even the old one) was quite smooth and comfortable. After serious customer service issues initially (and an honest but scathing review here), the company stepped up and resolved the problem to my satisfaction.
The machine performs well and delivers a great workout however there is a design flaw that needs correction. The only thing holding the strap to the handle are the foam grips that are not even glued on. If one of those grips slide off from continued use there is nothing to prevent the rope from retracting all the way back into the unit. This happened to me after two months of continued use. I had to figure out how to disassemble the spin wheel housing and then fish the strap out. Then I had to tie a knot in the strap to prevent it from happening again. Also, I paid $199 for the unit in December 2019 so it was a good value then but I don't think it is worth anything near the $300+ being charged today.
Update: after using the machine for roughly 20 minutes every morning, the machine still works great. However, the screen that is supposed to tell me stroke rate, distance, etc has stopped working all together. It just flashes big zeros. Changed batteries and everything.
I had never tried rowing before, but my husband loves it. This machine has been great!!! It’s basic, but works well. I find myself randomly hopping on it throughout the day because it really is enjoyable!!
I took 1 star off of easy to assemble because it was a bit of a pain in the butt. Worth it though.
The rowing machine is basically fine given the price, although it would be better with a heavier flywheel + more air resistance so one could rely less on the magnetic brake and have a smoother rowing experience.
When shipped there was a hole in the box and the shrink-wrapped parts assembly also had a hole in it. So it arrived missing a few nuts, bolts, and washers. The company first said they would mail out replacement parts. After some time they let me know that they were having issues sourcing replacement parts, and offered me a rebate to cover the parts cost + my time.
All in all it wasn’t hard to set up and it is sturdy. However, i go to plug the electrical wires together and nothing works. The batteries for the panel are in but it’s not getting information from the wires. I can’t see it back because i already have it put together 😞
