5.0 out of 5 starsWorth it, USB C port required for benefits

Hi All,

I have had a few third party usb c cables that claim to be good for the quest 2 using the usb Type A ports and to be honest third party cables can't hold a candle to the offical oculus fiber optic cable for oclus link.

The main benefits are you head set will charge and it will charge fast, how ever you need a REAL usb c port on your computer NOT AN ADAPTER I do think alot of the issue with people having problem are before there computer is not up to date, mainly there MOTHERBOARD if you have cheaped out on the motherboard in you PC built, you will most likely not be able to use this cable. Only get this cable IF YOU HAVE A MODERN MOTHERBOARD that is decent with usb c ports on the back.

Over all I am blown away how good the quality of graphics are now that oculus link are out of beta and the link cable shines, you want PC gaming to be lag free this is your cable handsdown but only if your PC has a USB C port, if you don't have that don't bother getting this untill you upgrade you motherboard or buy a pcie usb c port card.

This cable is for people that don't cheap out on motherboards and get the latest IO on there boards.

I have also tested this cable out on a macbook pro 16 inch intel in bootcamp windows and works great too.

Decided to go with the official link cable instead of some cheap, alternative. receive the package today, open it up to find a generic-looking USB-A to USB-C cable instead of the oculus USB-C to USB-C cable.

Photo is what I received, definitely not the Oculus link cable advertised

Not sure what the deal with this product is - and alot of online posts seem to indicate others have this issue - but this doesn't seem to work well using it with a usb c to usb a adapter the software doesn't detect the oculus being plugged in - plugging it directly into the usb c port in my pc it keeps connecting and disconnecting - however using a 3rd party cable works perfectly - for the minor benefit of charging while playing at a very slow pace it would be better to look at cheaper options to avoid the headache

Basically a waste of money. VR ready PC does not recognise Oculus Quest 2 as being connected - via USB C port which tests ok with mem stick. Does not recognise headset being connected via working USB 3.0 port with C-A adapter. Get the genuine article they said :( no Steam yet. Virtual Desktop sideloaded to Sidequest isnt recognising the headset on the wireless network either. Painful process to go through, especially trawling forums for fixes, which this cable was supposed to mitgate.

3.0 out of 5 stars Best cable choice but Not the best PCVR experience

Bought this on sale so the pricing was a bit less outrageous. However just keep in mine that buying this official link cable will probably saves you a headache (and some neckpain) since you get the best bandwidth for the task plus the fibre cable is very light and flexible like people said.

The MAIN issue is that, this IS NOT the best way to experience PCVR on your quest headset, not by a long shot. I find my performance lackluster while using this cable.

I would suggest someone who is aiming to play pcvr to try the MUCH superior method of wireless streaming via virtual reality, it's 80% cheaper, performs better, wireless, and its just mind blowing tbh. Try that if your network can handling it first before buying this cable.

I move around alot and live in sharehouses so having this cable as a backup makes sense.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good & must product for the Oculus Quest player

Pro :
- Light & length is long enough to power the Quest 2 for far more than 2 hours of gaming/movies watching (most important)
- Charging is possible quite fast if you connect it to any USB-C 3.x port.
- Great performance on PCVR gaming using Oculus Link.

Con :
- A bit high on price.

4.0 out of 5 stars A quality cable - flexible, long and tough

"Is it worth the premium" is probably what you're looking to answer. After sitting on the fence for a while and using a shorter third-party cable I took the plunge. I think it was worth it. The cable is very good quality, quite light and flexible which helps reduce the drag of being tethered to a PC. Works great as you'd expect but I guess it's a quality of life purchase rather than a necessity when there are other much cheaper cables on the market that will do the job. Still, highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars In this instance you get what you pay for!

There are a lot of long USB cables out there, good and cheap, but the fibre optic construction of this cable is fairly unique and usually reserved for professional-grade equipment costing several times more.

In the case of this cable, that construction makes the cable much more supple and lightweight, yet capable of great speeds and can positively charge a quest 2 during play. When you buy a cheaper cable you're going to be making a compromise in one or more of those areas.

If you only sit to play racing or space sims you might get away with a cheaper 3m cable, or a heavier active cable, but for anything more active or where you're standing that weight of the cable is going to become more of an issue.

But the other option to look at is a wireless connection via Virtual Desktop. Because i play a lot of FPS games and don't use stick turning, even the mighty official link cable becomes twisted and loses its length. So now i use the link almost exclusively for seated experiences, and VD for everything else. The best USB cable still has limitations.

3.0 out of 5 stars Poor build quality, does its job

The USB-C connector at the end isn't properly engineered for this so it bends really easily just by sitting in the headset. It can't support its own weight. The strap tries to mitigate this, but fails to do so clearly because my end is starting to bend so badly its splitting the casing in two. The USB-C cable is the perfect length. I would just suggest using AirLink unless you need less latency and the superior image quality for say Beat Saber. No need to buy this if you're thinking of using it for... adult reasons... 3 stars for good functionality, poor build quality.

Used a few different 3rd party cables which only lasted a few months and had intermittent connection issues. This cable is massively better and I have had no connection issues and I eventually accepted the high price.
