5.0 out of 5 starsUnmissable. Heartbreaking. Insightful. BUY THIS BOOK!

I’m just over half way through this book but I couldn’t wait a moment longer to leave a 5 star review.

This is a book for the ages. A masterpiece of contextual thinking. One that makes you feel everything, think differently about everything and bask in the genius and sensitivity of the literary delivery.

I learned about Glennon on Brené Browns podcast, which was beyond interesting, but contained only really a glimpse of her deep insight and inspiring humility.

This book is a collection of stories, metaphors and musings that could not be more relevant to the current socio-cultural climate.

I am learning, growing and feeling deep grace with every page I read.

If you are sitting there trying to decide whether to purchase this book - you must! It is an investment in yourself, your family and your role in the future of humanity.

Thank you Glennon for such a groundbreaking piece of work. 🙏🏻

I only read the book for bookclub and I found it's hard to believe that it has such good online reviews. I appreciate the honesty of the author sharing her lifestories and the interesting angle for the beginning of the book, but the book itself seems lack of content. The structure of the book reminds me of reading these inspirational book. It keeps repeating the same thing in different formats throughout chapters. The language was dull and prosaic.

I had a hard time with this book. Not because it’s not good. It’s very good. It’s open and honest, but whenever I put it down to do something else, I had a hard time picking it back up again. I’m not completely sure why that is. Maybe it’s because a lot of what the author said resonated within me. It’s hard to see bits of yourself that could be better when you didn’t think there was a problem. This book will stay with me for a long time I think.

Doyle is a masterful writer. She's definitely a talker. From her Instagram profile you do wonder if she'll stay in the relationship because with all her so-called intuition, she is definitely difficult to live with. I dislike the bits in the book where she says eg "this is what I said to my son" and then she goes on to fill 2 or more pages with what she said, and I think if she'd said all that to me I would've given up listening - she's pretty full on about herself. This happens a lot throughout the book. A good read though and for the price of an ebook, well worth it. It is a love story too.

Okay - so I'm a cynical Brit for whom 'self improvement' means getting through another year of not being sucked into buying any products claiming to help with it. I'm also a gay community worker with six nieces and I love memoirs so I went out on a limb with this. What can I say except I love it. It cost me £3 on Kindle and it's the best £3 I'll ever spend. It's laugh out loud funny, it's air punching 'yeah!' it's skipping 3 pages because you've no idea what she's going on about and it's the only post educationl book I've EVER underlined bits in it. It won't resonate with everyone, but then I hate the Beatles - not everything does. For Brits with a Kindle, I'd say go for it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A powerful book!! Must read for all

Reading this book has been one hell of an experience. It took me a lot of days to read it and absorb everything that Doyle was talking about. After every few pages, I would feel the need to just stop and Breathe and Think about what I had just read.
The book starts with a powerful message:

“For every woman resurrecting herself
For girls who will never be buried."

This book is about women and it will reshape the way you think and you will emerge out of it more in love with yourself than ever. Through stories and incidents from her own life, Glennon Doyle talks about everything we go through in life or maybe will go through as women. She talks about love, self love, religion, sexuality, feminism, forgiveness, politics, being a parent, being a woman, a spouse and it tells us that it is okay to put ourselves first. It is okay to want more and it is okay to be untamed and free.

And when I say her own experiences, I don’t mean something big or special. Just small everyday things, small but meaningful experiences in life that made her realise the person she was meant to be and helped her find the courage to be just herself.
It was a very illuminating experience to go through it all and realise the little traps in our everyday life that keep us tamed and tied up, not letting us realise our own full potential. Or the courage to be ourselves. Without any pretence.
So just read this and experience this journey to self discovery that will only make you embrace yourself for the person you are meant to be and encourage you to live life on your own terms.
Here’s to The Untamed:
May we know them.
May we raise them.
May we love them.
May we read them.
May we elect them.
May we be them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not for everyone

A must read for anxious and depressed people . Unfortunately it will not appeal to everyone as it concentrates upon past addictions and mental illness in a way that unless you have been through it it would be hard to be empathetic. I found it very on point and agreed with most but not all her points of view ... definitely worth a read and I empathised with a lot of her experiences and admired her strength of character throughout .

A very interesting story with some great insights but conversation focuses a lot on the author's family life and children. Not a self-help book but an autobiographical story, with no specific focus on how to stop pleasing and start living. A good book, worth a read, but the title should be different.

Very good. Interesting . Easy format. Ironic that Amazon demands you to review of a book regardless of whether you’d like to write one, partcularly when the topic of the book is self-determination.
