5.0 out of 5 starsNew Favourite!!

Kingdom of the Wicked is my first book by Kerri Maniscalco and it definitely won’t be my last. The way everything was written, the descriptions, I honestly felt like I was in Sicily. Everything just flowed and there are no over the top explanations or descriptions, just enough to leave you wanting more.

I won’t give too much away but this is perfect for the spooky season. A witch looking for vengeance, dark and deadly Princes of Hell, murders, secrets and lies around every corner. Who will you trust?

My favourite parts of the book, besides the delicious food, was watching the slow friendship and building of trust between Emilia and Wrath. They were both hesitant of each of other, Emilia more so after being told numerous scary stories about the Princes of Hell, but after spending time together Emilia begins to see that not everything she’s been told about them are true. And the slow building romance was intoxicating, I wanted, no need more!

Definitely a book that makes you hungry. Slow to start but worth the read. October definitely can't come soon enough

This book was ok. At first I enjoyed it but as I started to read on it got predictable and that was my only motivation to finish reading this book to hope I was wrong and nope I was right. I will be honest it was an easy read and did get me back into reading which I am happy about but I was disappointed that I didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped. But if you love a book full of supernatural then give this ago.

I was so excited for this. After finally starting it, I just couldn't click with the characters at all. The wicked was described perfectly but the characters telling the story of the legend I just couldn't get on with.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sadly a big let down

Started this book with really high expectations since a lot of people really seemed to enjoy it but I'm already half way through and I can't seem to get myself to keep reading. The writing style seems very 'juvenile' /for younger audiences. The plot only developed slowly since the protagonist talks more about her recepices and restaurant than her dead sister (so nothings really happening). Italian words were thrown in super randomly and way too often, which started to be really annoying. And just in general it's a really slow read for me. I hope that the second half of the book is better so that I can change my review or give a better rating but so far I'm sadly not having high hopes.

This book missed the mark for me. Excellent concept but too much focus on good talk rather than world building.

Let's say if i where 12 or 14 i would have liked it...maybe...i guess? The basic idea is nice but the writing is odd and irritating. Like putting random Italien words there without explanations, starting the book without even mentioning in which year it all takes places or a fair character description and as stupid as it sounds the characters lack character.

Its so sad i was really hopping it would be awesome and that i can enjoy more of the series but after this I'm not motivated or anything to read the other parts.

It could've been nice but the writing style is not my cup of tea.

2.0 out of 5 stars NUL ! LAME ! (French/English comment)

I bought it because of all the hype on TikTok about this book. What a waste of money... and of time! Empty characters, not developed enough (boring protagonist, princes with the same descriptions so we don’t even differentiate them no more). This book is big... for nothing. The plot only start at the middle of the book, the heroin talk more about her restaurant than about her dead sister and the murderer is easy to be figured out. Save your money !

The story was interesting but overall the book was boring and the pace was slow. Some parts in the book weren't explained very well and to me the ending was written very chaotic....
I'm a bit disappointed..

Já não é a primeira vez que recebo livros sem embalagem ou proteção, o que faz o livro aparentar não ser novo... dessa vez, tanto a capa quanto a jacket vieram com imperfeições, além de marcas de dedos na parte preta!
