I purchased these two sets of diatonic handbells after having used five sets at a previous job. Like the ones I used before, these bells used a coiled spring to dampen the clapper, have a kid-sized handle, are brightly and uniquely coated with an enamel (or powder-coat, not sure) finish so they may be easily distinguished, and sound dead-on accurate and matched both in the set itself and between the two sets. The 8 bells comprise a C-major scale, and each bell is marked at the end of the handle with both a number and a note name. The colors are keyed to a beginner’s song book, though I’m not evaluating that. I found that the action is similar to a professional hand bell, requiring a positive “stroke” to produce a tone and thus remaining silent during inadvertent motion. More important to me, ringing pairs or clusters of bells produces a well-tuned chord, and thus promotes a sense of pitch and tuning in the user. This set is a very high-quality musical instrument, and an appropriate introduction to handbell ringing for children. At 4 per bell, it’s also inexpensive for the quality it offers.
Really nice, bright, and loud sound. These were a big hit at my small holiday get together. We had so much fun trying to play Xmas songs. The colors on the song sheets in the free book that the bells came with need to be a little bit more prominent, so you can tell the difference between them.
These shouldn't be just for kids either! Why only gear these towards kids? I think the company is missing out on a potential big money maker if they would re-package the bells and gear them towards adults with some classic rock songs, songs of the 60's, 70's and 80's and more. They can sell different era books! Which would bring in more money. Like I said, they are a lot of fun, I just think they need an adult set! If the company does decide to make an adult set or even adult song books, I will take my 10% cut for the great idea! LOL! FYI.... After a few cocktails, it does get a lot funnier and difficult to play them!
I was a bit worried about the hand bells might not in tune. But it turns out very well. All the bells have clear tone and pitch accuracy. I use them to teach my students/ little musicians for reading the C major scale. I use the order of rainbow colors for teaching them to read each note in C major scale. It match perfectly with this set of hand bells. We have lots of fun playing songs together.
We have several sets of hand bells that we take out during the holiday season so that we can do livingroom "bell concerts" with family and friends (trust me, it's a lot of fun). I was pleasantly surprised by the MiniArts bells on several levels. First, they're a bit bigger than I was expecting, but still the right size to fit just about any hand. Second, they seemed better made than most of the other sets we have. Third, and most important, their tone and resonance is beautiful. In fact, when my parnter unboxed them, I was in another room, and when he rang one, I had to ask him if the sound was coming from this new set or from an older, larger "professional" set of hand bells. A small color-coded music book with a few songs is included In the box (which is nicely done, making this set very suitbale for gifting). HIghly recommend.
This bell set is very nice quality. The bells are made well and could be used for adults or children. The inside of the bells look like a sturdy plastic, not metal as I was expecting. These would be great for a classroom because they can withstand a lot of use and they look lovely. The song books has a lot of songs and is also made well (it's more than a pamphlet). There is a storage bag, but I like the box it comes in so I am keeping that for storage. My kids are quite happy with these bells - my littles and my teens. Overall, I would highly recommend.
