Excellent, but I can't use it in chairs with head rests.

For watching movies while laying back and relaxing it's uncomfortable. It sticks out too far and I can't sit back in any chair which has a head rest. This is something I hadn't considered and thought I would let people know.
This is a much needed upgrade for stand up gaming with the oculus quest 2. It does feel more secure than the basic strap.
Luckily it takes less than 30 seconds to switch the headstraps.
I recommend this as an upgrade.

Save yourself your time and money, and go with a third party headstrap.

I waited a couple months for them to sort out the issues but still ended up with it breaking after using it a handful of times. Oculus was well aware that these headstraps were garbage but didn't recall them all. Don't bother trying to get a "good batch", they're all trash.

3 months after submitting warranty claim, Occulus still reponding with lies.

Do not purchase any Occulus product. They operate with delibarete criminal intent neglecting all consumer law.

Broke from light usage (2hrs a week max) after six months.

Occulus demanded invoices, I gave them two months ago.

Then they said "they don't have the serial for my occulus" (note, not the actual product I bought but another product?) WHICH WAS ON THE INVOICE.

They then said "we cant deliver to the original delivery address because its a PO BOX", I am regional, We have no mail service only PO BOXES that take any sized parcel.

They still refused to honor warranty.

I then gave them my billing address

THEY STILL REFUSED TO HONOUR WARRANTY!

3 MONTHS LATER, STILL IGNORED, SUPPORT TICKET SUBMITTED IN OCULUS FORUMS, STILL IGNORED.

It won’t break if you avoid certain things

The elite strap is great in terms of added comfort for longer play sessions. I could barely play for an hour with the original strap due to the lack of support from the back of the head.
Due to the multiple reports of the elite breaking, I was hesitant in getting the product, but now that I have had it for a bit it is clear how the design is flawed. Pretty much the main thing to avoid when using the elite strap is do not hinge the strap and headset by grabbing the rear and pulling up/down when putting on or taking off the headset. This will put too much stress on the plastic arms, which have no real strength or reinforcement.
My advice is, only put the headset on/off by significantly loosening the strap via the knob and lift off by holding the headset itself. I have been sticking to this and always being cautious on how much stress being placed on the arms and my strap is still break free after months of using it.

Other pros:
- easier to put on vs original strap
- easier to get the headset in the best position for visuals.
- comfort
- better for holding a link cable

Cons:
- weak design requiring caution and care but can prevent breaks if treated right
- can’t really use over ear headphones with the strap

Lasted 4 months, failed over night while resting on the table.

Much more comfortable than the original strap! Lasted 4 months with gentle care!
But a split open through the "Right strap Clip-on" when it wasn't in use, while sat on the table and it developed overnight. Very strange.
I contacted Oculus Support about warranty replacement (Not Amazon vendor), given all my details and proof of purchase. It's been a week with Quote:
"We are going to look into this and will require more time to look into possible options available to you."
For reference, mine was a Pre-order and it has No date codes or serial number. It just has "Made in China" printed inside.
Update: a replacement was sent from Oculus free of charge. Very happy with the service!

Not worth the $79 to be honest. It broke within a month of having it... while it was in my case.... it snapped...... It’s harder than the other strap to put in with glasses and it sits low on my head and to keep it from slipping I have to tighten it so tight and then my forehead gets sore very fast.

Fits well and is a significant improvement to the terrible default band.

But despite its immense size (it feels like you're strapping mephisto to the back of your head as you work the retraction mechanism), the band is as flimsy as 1ply toilet paper and lasts just as long. I got 6 uses out of it over 3 months before it gave out and snapped at the arm.

I'd have been better off building a strap out of the cash I wasted on this worthless piece of crap

I bought this on 10th December, 2020 so I have had this for awhile, I'm now getting some cracks on the strap, sticky tape solved it and after googling around it's apparently been fixed in newer versions by Oculus. I don't know if this is resolved in newer versions but it did last a solid year and a bit, it made it through quite a number of hours of usage (finished half life alyx, star wars games, uncle going super man dive into a chair from richies plank etc.) so it's had a good life.

The strap works pretty well 99% of the time, however there is a design flaw with the strap. Any bending or especially twisting to the plastic just behind the connector to the headset will snap it with absolutely no force. You need to be careful even when just putting it down. I had to send one back to Amazon because it couldn't even survive shipping the first time... The plastic should be thicker, especially given the very high price tag for an average piece of plastic.
