5.0 out of 5 stars Sound stage is amazing
Reviewed in Australia on 25 June 2021

This is my 1st open back headset coming from cloud 2 and audeze penrose. Sound quality is amazing with decent bass. They were abit tight when initially put on but have slowly adjusted over the last few hours. Listening to music is enjoyable, tested with a few games and the soundstage is a totally new experience. currently using the headset attached to phone for work calls mic is decent with good noise cancelling. Being able to hear background noises while working\gaming is a + for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what i wanted

I like using this headset now. Initially, the clamping force on this headset felt too strong, perhaps due to my head being on the fatter side. Now with well over 48hr of use, it is no longer an issue. To summarize, I appreciate its lightweight, mic quality is more than acceptable and listening to music with these is surprisingly great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best PS5 headset I've used
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 January 2022

Since I got my PS5 I have been on a quest to try find the best headphones

I've had Arctis 7P, Audeze Penrose and Astro A50

Not one of the above headphones get close to the quality of the Sennheiser PC38X

I can hear everything on these every small detail. Footsteps in Call of Duty to every little sound in Resident Evil Village or Ghost of Tsushima

These cost half the price of the Audeze's and Astros which is another bonus

Wired is always better than wireless if you don't want to hear fuzzy sounds, another great thing is you don't need to charge these just plug them into the controller and away you go

If you are looking for the best sound quality for PS5 this is the set you need

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good.

Overall really happy with it after a couple of weeks of using it.

The sound quality is very clear with some nice lows. In-game music and sounds are epic and your spotify etc will also sound very good for the price point. It's not super audiophile level good but most people will be able to tell right away that the sound quality is good.

The mic sounds ok, nothing special, but it may be a little bit on the quiet side in my opinion. I had to turn the gain up +10dB through windows to be heard in discord.

It's very light and comfortable for a gaming headset and the cable is pretty long compared with other wired headsets I've used.

The colour scheme looks awful but the headset design itself is kind of cool. It's plasticky but doesn't feel cheap.

Overall it's a thumbs up from me.

5.0 out of 5 stars The sound quality make it worth every penny.

I bought these after my Astro A40s died and I can say that the PC38X is a massive upgrade in sound quality. Being low impedance the PC38X can be driven by almost anything and will sound better than any gaming headset you have used. Even plugged into Playstation controller they sound amazing. With a good DAC/AMP and some EQ tweaking you can take these to the next level. Yes, they are on the expensive side of headsets but I can assure you that they are worth the price tag.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great sound quality
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 March 2022

As you'd expect from Sennheiser, the sound quality is very solid - great detail and a reasonably wide sound stage, thanks to the open design. As other reviews mentioned, the open design also comes at the cost of reduced isolation: you'll hear more of the background noise in the room (if you're somewhere noisy), and also people around you will hear what you're listening to (it's not too bad, but not perfectly quiet either, like you'd get with closed-back headphones).

I use this primarily with my PS5, plugged into the controller, and it works really well. One thing to note is that the cable comes with a L-shaped plug, which is not the most convenient when plugged into the controller, but it's not a big deal.

In terms of comfort, I have a head that's on the larger side, and these fit me well without putting too much pressure on. They are also fairly light, so you'll barely notice they are there, even during longer gaming sessions. One thing to point out is that the ear cups are on the smaller side - while they do just about fit around my ears, when they shift even a little my ears get caught under them. Again, not a big deal, just something to look out for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good mic but output very quiet
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 31 December 2021

The mic is the best sounding mic out of the majority of gaming headsets (I’ve watched a comparison video on YouTube). However, it’s got an open back so obviously not noise cancelling but I already knew that before purchasing. The output is really quiet compared to when I use apple earphones for example. I play valorant and can barely hear the footsteps, I can hear my friends on discord more even though their volume’s a lot lower. I ended up buying a hyperx quad cast s.. I probably wasted my money on that cuz the mic of this is above average.

3.0 out of 5 stars You can do better

I expected a-lot from this product after watching these very positive youtube reviews but from my experience they really weren't all that amazing. Not to say they're a bad product but you can do better.

as a comparison my older headset (astro a10, about £60 back when i bought them) had the same mic and sound quality from my experience and feedback from friends on discord. It also just feels lower quality, plastic feels cheap. The cable should also be mentioned, i could not stand the cable keeping their shape after unraveling them.

Also when i received these headset, they came without there brand box. This make them harder to sell if you later decide you want a different headset

As i mentioned, there not bad but you can do better with the current price of £166

2.0 out of 5 stars Great sound though complicated to set up

I've been looking around for a gaming headset to replace my old corsair
I attempted to use this for gaming but without a standalone piece of software I found myself clueless on how to set up the EQ settings and not to mention for the price the headset doesn't offer any noise cancelling what so ever, I can hear my PC fans (which are super quiet) over my game sound, audio is very low compared to previous gaming headsets I've used.
Decided to return after 3/4 days
