5.0 out of 5 starsLess scratch prone than previous gen leather case
Reviewed in Australia on 28 October 2021
Update May 2022: I've been using the case / Kindle daily since release, and I'm happy to say the leather has softened up making it feel nicer. Also, it has protected my SE extremely well, including surviving a couple of accidental drops. For being very sturdy and a great fit, I'm increasing the stars from 4 to 5.

--
I just received the 11th Gen black leather case early, ordered with the Signature edition Kindle that I'm still waiting for, and am sharing my early impressions as they may benefit others.

Compared to the old, the 10th generation Kindle leather cover is much harder - appearing and feeling almost plastic like. The 10th generation cover is by comparison completely soft to touch on the outside. Inside they're much the same, a smooth micro fibre surface - although a different colour.

Whilst I much prefer the feeling of the outside texture of the old, it is highly vulnerable to being scratched - so I can see the new lasting far longer "as new". After my daughter decided to draw on the 10th gen case with a ballpoint pen however I used real leather cleaner and honey leather conditioner to restore it, and it came out really nice - and even softer than when new. Those scratches could be described as character, and I feel I may miss it in the 11th gen case - but I'm certain a lot of people won't.

As the 11th gen felt quite hard to the touch, especially directly compared to the old, I applied a bit of conditioner to the new one. It may have helped a bit with the dryness, but it wasn't by much. Time will tell if it softens up with use.

Overall it feels less luxurious, but more practical - it would stand up to water splashes far better, and I'll absolutely enjoy not having to worry about scratching it as much.

(I've included size comparison shots of the old vs new case as I'm sure the difference will be of interest especially for those looking forward to a larger unit; I'm really looking forward to the slightly larger 11th gen. I'll update my impressions when it arrives.)

3.0 out of 5 starsWorks well enough, but doesn't look, feel or smell like leather.
Reviewed in Australia on 14 November 2021
Fits my new Paperwhite well and does everything it needs to do with efficiency. It seems tough and should last. But i expected something softer, grippier, and more natural feeling. This cover looks and feels like hard plastic and fails to deliver the sort of feel I've always enjoyed with the various Kindles I've owned over the past many years, since the earliest versions. That makes it expensive for what it is, and I would have looked for something else if I'd known what I now know about its feel. I suggest you check it out before you buy, to avoid disappointment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't pay extra for fake leather

Excellent, very happy with the purchase. I went with the fabric case because I saw the "leather" covers in store and I would bet money there is no real leather in them at all, they felt like hard plastic that had been pressed to create marks that look like leather. So naturally I went with the fabric case as it's cheaper and does the same thing.

Feels good in the hand, feels strong and of good quality and easy to hold when open and folded back on the Kindle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very high quality

The fabric cover is very high quality. It adds a real luxurious feel to the kindle. The magnetic front cover works well and even works when you fold it back. It adds a little weight but that’s to be expected. The colour is a really pleasant blue and the texture is like denim. The added bonus is that liquid doesn’t wreck the cover. Highly recommend!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's waterproof, but not shock proof
Reviewed in Australia on 11 November 2021

I have this cover for my new Kindle Signature. It feels good, it's slim and light and easier to clean. I think it has been specially made for this waterproof Kindle so it can be used at wet places, since more padded covers will soak up water, and be harder to dry. Therefore the 5 stars.
It's worth thinking about adding a more padded (drop-proof) cover when travelling. I think it's made of PU Leather and therefore needs a different cleaning agent than real leather.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Cover

A perfect way to protect your 11th generation kindle. Waterproof, shockproof, smart, it’s a no brainer to buy one. It prevents fingerprints ruining the back of your device and protects the screen from scratches in your case of handbag. And of course it turns your kindle on and off each time you open or close it.

5.0 out of 5 stars In this case, brand name tops knockoff

When I got my kindle, I cheaped out and bought a generic ‘leather’ case that I assumed couldn’t be much different from the more expensive Amazon one. After a few days, I realised I couldn’t stand the fake feeling one and got the Amazon brand. Much happier now as it feels much more pleasing and also has stronger magnets which also keep it magnetised when open and folded back which I really wanted. Love the lilac colour too - a lot more muted in person which is great

5.0 out of 5 stars How to use it

After having an original Kindle. And now having a new version of the Kindle. I am honest to say it had taken me a few times to get use to the newer version on how it's is workings go. Now after using the paper white nearly every day when I have a spare moment. I find it is easy to use and enjoy reading new books on it. I just turned 70 years old a little while ago, so getting use to new things has taken some time for me :))

I bought this for my 3rd kindle. I have been using the same leather cover on my 2nd one ( the smaller paperwhite) and have been completely happy.
The quality is the same. It is sleek and does the job fine. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice to touch
Reviewed in Australia on 17 November 2021

This is the best kindle cover I ever owned (the other one was a leather version). The cloth gives a nice level of resistance, when it is closed, preventing it from becoming slippery. When open, the inside has a silky texture. The magnet attaches to the back of the kindle when open, preventing "flapping" while it is in your hand.
