This is quite a complex piece to put together but it is something I'm after. Spent roughly 5 hrs to assemble and loving the mechanical movement of the ship. By far the most challenging yet fun Lego I've built. Love it!

A bright, colourful Lego set with lots of moveable pieces once build to provide extended fun and play.

It’s a marvellous set and a great addition to the Lego Mario/Luigi builds. The construction took my 8-year-old precisely 1 day and 3 hours go complete and has been playing with it ever since, and the fact that the ship extends or pulls open to reveal other parts and makes the ship a lot larger is a brilliant design.

On a negative note, it does not come with instructions, rather you have to rely on the app, and even if you do have a compatible device for the app, it ultimately means you as the adult giving up said device for the rest of the day! I have commented on this before and I feel it has been a bad decision by Lego to exclude a manual, some people collect sets and see it as an investment, but this isn’t much of one without the construction manual.

That aside, the set is attractive and very colourful and is giving my son hours of entertainment. I advise if you are looking to get this set, perhaps for a birthday or even if it’s for next Christmas, buy it while it’s on discount as it is at the time of writing this or at least soon, these sets become collectors sets very soon and the price sky rockets and becomes ridiculous.

I do recommend this set but I’m taking a star due to the lack of a manual. Very, very good set.

Terrible app

The Lego itself is lovely, however the app is terrible. There are no instructions included with the set - you have to download the app which shows you how to build the set, however it constantly crashes. I've tried the usual - reinstalling it, factory reset etc but it persists. In the end I've had to download the pdf from the Lego website but this doesn't help with the other functions of the app such as making levels and interacting with the set.

Please think heavily before buying this. You will get lovely Lego set that's hamstrung by an unstable app. I've also seen user reviews on the app store that the app updates can brick the characters, but I can't confirm as I can't get that far berofe the app crashes. Avoid

My child nearly fell off the floor in astonishment when removing (10th) birthday wrapping paper to reveal this set. It went down very well and is a lot larger than expected. Took quite some time to build together and was exciting to do. The finished product is superb, excellent design from Lego and a quality, heavy set that will last forever. Fun wise, this is probably the best addition so far to the Mario collection.
