I really loved this story. She has loved him for what seems to be forever. He has watched over her for about the same time.
He was the protector she needed. She loved him with everything in her. Will they get/stay together?

I loved the Steel bones Motorcycle Club series and read all seven straight after each other. The point of views and life experiences you get from each character really has you connecting with them. It makes you wonder how you would feel or deal with that situation and has you questioning what society sees as normal or acceptable. I love the characters Cate has created. I like the way you get the storyline from everyones point of you when you read the whole series. Theres so much depth to each one with different struggles and hurdles that each couple try to overcome. I started these books expecting some steamy scenes and romance but you get so much more than that!

Story Jenkins has been around the club for as long as she can remember, her mother Sunny was a stripper at the White Van. Story has been obsessed by Nickel Kobald since he rescued her from a bad situation aged 15.

Nickel tries hard to stay away as he believes he is too violent to be trusted around anyone that perfect. Can they change their pasts and create a future?

I loved Story's innocence even in the world she inhabits. The fact that the littlest things can bring her joy and her crush on Nickel, she sees the good others don't especially Him. Born into a family of ugly Nickel thinks Hes just like them, that he's unworthy of anything good especially Story. But He can't stay away and She doesn't want him to. This is a good story and I fell into their world quickly, there's a little club action and enough hints about the others lives to keep you interested and wanting to know more.

Gave it a second try but this isn’t a series I’ve taken to. Always portraying women as stupid annoys me. Storyline wasn’t the best and even with the positive reviews I’m not a fan.

The h was like the girl next door even though anyone with a childhood like hers could have easily been termed broken. But she is not. She is smart and strong. The H was broken and struggled throughout the book. It is a honest character but just not the type I like to read in a romance. The story was good but predictable.

Nickel and Story, can i just say how much I feel for Nickel. I loved how the author really allows readers to get inside Nickels mind and see how he struggles for what he really wants and what he believes he shouldn’t have. Nickel is rough, there’s no denying that but getting to see who the man really is had be swooning.

Nickel and story is a great read, older man/younger woman but each made for one another. Story was a great character, so easy to like and cheer on. I loved how the author makes her the perfect balance in Nickels life and pushes him just the right way. This story is gritty, the brotherhood of the MC is a constant through the read and I enjoyed the banter they shared.

I definitely recommend this book it is one that’s full of character growth, and a catchy story line.

After reading the previous book in this series, Charge, I was somewhat ambivalent about continuing with this series. A friend of mine loved this particular second book in the series and insisted that I check it out and I’m glad she did because this was more in line with the dark romance vibe I expect from an MC romance. Was this sort of misogynistic and violent and maybe a little exploitative of the childhood traumas of the main characters? Yes. But I also think this is pretty much part of the gritty expectation of this sub-genre and I’m here for the action, angst and the “healing power of love” journey.

The premise of this age-gap MC romance is that Story and Nickel grew up in difficult circumstances in the toxic, violent, and at times dangerous environment of a one-percenter motorcycle club. For Nickel, this was exacerbated by growing up in an incredibly abusive home and he struggles with explosive anger issues. Story imprints on Nickel at a very young age starting a years-long journey of unrequited love and not giving up on what she thinks they could be, regardless of Nickel’s avoidance and belief he’s wrong for her.

This was a good read if you like darker romance. The romance itself- to be fair, the romance itself isn’t actually dark, it’s the circumstances of the characters and their backstories and their origin story that flirt with the problematic, but nothing that problematic and out of the realm of dark, angsty romance actually happens in this book. Story is fifteen when she falls in love with a 10-years-older Nickel, but there are no statutory issues, nor when she’s 17 and propositions him, nor at any point in the book. If anything, Nickel is hyper-sensitive about getting into a relationship with Story because he recognizes his unaddressed issues with explosive anger and that he could unwilling be a danger to Story. I overall really liked the characters and whilst I’m not immensely invested in the secondary characters, I liked this enough that I would check out other books in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Emotional and intense!

just finished Nickel's Story and I can honestly say that I'm stunned. I went in thinking it was just going to be an MC romance and what I got was so much more. Nickel sees himself a certain way, sees his heart and soul as a disaster that no woman needs to be subjected to; especially a woman like Story. Story loves to dance and has been head over heels for Nickel Kobold since she was fifteen. She can't give up on him, he is all she wants. He has fought his feelings for years and she can't move on when he watches her at the strip club where he works as a bouncer. They are imperfect people who are perfect for each other. Their world is full of violence and danger but it is all bearable when you have people around you who always have your back. This was wonderfully written, emotional, intense and funny. I fell in love with the characters, the writing. My favorite line was when Nickel described Story's clothing choices, I just loved it! I am going to go and get the other books in this series immediately and keep my eye out for more from the amazing Cate C Wells.
