I just loved this story of an Indian Doctor and his wife moving to a new practice far from home. Its inspirational too showing that differences of nationality can be overcome, and respect earned by the community. It has all kinds of emotions from humor to sadness but depicts real life at that time in history. Both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. If you like PBS, Acorn, and BBC programing this will be right up your alley!

I always love anything to do with Wales and this dvd series intrigued me. An Indian doctor in a provincial Welsh town in the early 1960's?! What a glorious surprise. It's a gentle gem of a series, with some surprises, honesty and varies characterizations of both the wonderful lead Indian stars as well as the provincial, initially skeptical Welsh townsfolk who come to rely on and treasure their doctor and his wife. utterly charming and delightful!

Very disappointed have seen both main actors do quality work.. at times Indian Doctor- was boring; villagers and saris were over dressed.. for the time- must have have been really wealthy coal miners!!!

After the much loved doctor died, the Indian doctor and his wife arrive in a insular Welsh mining town. There are cultural adjustments to be made by both sides. Both the character and plot developmement were very enjoyable and satisfying.
