4.0 out of 5 starsGame is a challenge, but delivery was great
Reviewed in Australia on 1 December 2021
Battlefield games definitely have a steep learning curve at first and it takes some adjusting when you first start out, especially with this game where the mechanics have changed a bit and the maps support so many players.

That being said, the launch was pretty shabby and there were endless bugs, but most of the worst ones have been patched quite early now and the rest should be fixed before the end of the year.

I've thrown a good few hours into it already and I'm looking forward to continue playing it as it improves and changes.

2.0 out of 5 starsNot great for PS5 players yet
Reviewed in Australia on 27 November 2021
This game looks great but is not really that fun as a PS5 player (yet). If you play cross-play you will be annihilated by PC players. You are a moving target for PC players, as it is difficult to defend yourself as at launch aim-assist is turned off on the PS5. It is difficult to score a shot at a distance. You can turn cross-play off altogether but you wait 10 minutes to join a game.

There also appears to be too many vehicles on many of the maps. In Breakthrough the points up high are difficult if not impossible to take, and makes these points a grind. It appears DICE never really tried real 64v64 players. I would have loved some closer combat maps instead of maps with huge spaces between.

There are bugs galore, sometimes you join a match and cannot select a loadout. However, closing the game and reopening it fixes it but you would assume that would be fixed at launch.

Granted it looks beautiful, and the new mechanics/classes are a change from what was in the previous iterations of BF. But I must say that the moment it is not that enjoyable to play and needs more polish.

2.0 out of 5 stars Longtime Battlefield fan, but this.... is not good.

I really wanted to love this game, but the very basic features I've grown to love in the Battlefield series are missing. Being able to play with more than three friends, the scoreboard, being able to choose which guns are in your load-out - really basic things that you expect to see are just missing. Some of the maps end in exercises in frustration where it's almost impossible to capture the last objectives. I really hope that over time they'll improve these things, but it's really disappointing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst battlefield game ive played.

Ive played a bunch of the battlefield games and this one is bad.

Even if it wasn't a buggy mess it would still be worse the other battlefield games.

That being said, the bugs in this game make it extremely frustrating where despite trying to ignore them, there are so many annoying issues that will bombard you and ruin your already lack luster experience.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Battlefield Game in history
Reviewed in Australia on 2 May 2022
Style Name: No BundleVerified Purchase
As every gamer knows by now, this game is quite bad in general. 2 star at best scenario
There is not a single thing it does better than Battlefield V, which wasn't good game either. Everything feels clunky and unfinished.

The main topic of this review is to explain that PS5 version of this game is actually worse. You have two options to play:

- If you turn off "cross play", you CANNOT play this game. There's not enough players for any game mode ; All-Out-Warfare or Portal. If you host your own server, you can only play against bots which are completely brain-dead.

- If you keep "cross play" on, then you will be completely ANNIHILATED by PC players. They will destroy you, believe me. They should have kept cross-play between console players only.

In short, either you will keep killing brain-dead bots or getting constantly killed by hardcore PC gamers. So, pick your poison.

Now you can ask me: "if you knew this game was bad, why did you buy it then?" Answer is simple; it was super cheap (9 Aussie dollars) and I wanted to see this trainwreck with my own eyes.

Maybe, just maybe the game can get a little bit better after Season 1 update in June, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Game is ok I would say. Maps are nice. They are just HUGE. But as Ps5 player, if you enable cross play, you’ll be DESTROYED by PC players. With cross play off, you’ll be waiting ages before to start a match.
Only two game modes available. Heaps of bugs. Your loadout will disappear, voice chat doesn’t exist.
It looks beautiful, but it feels a BETA version. Wait for few months, hopefully they will improve it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Trash

This game is seriously trash. I'm thankful I bought this used rather than paying full price for it!
I played a few hours with a friend and once he went off, I deleted it off my PS5. The game play is really unenjoyable, bugs beyond belief (whoever signed off on this release should be shot), no comms, no scoreboard, 2 game modes, and the maps are just bogus. This is seriously the worst game I have ever played and I'm a huge fan of the Battlefield games. It really shows how rubbish it is that I am back to playing BF1 and BFV. It's ridiculous and a big disappointment. Everyone wanted a new modern warfare game similar to BF4, but they came out with a crappier version of COD. Save your money or wait for them to fundamentally redesign this game with patch updates!

Game is okay, but needs a huge update already as so many bugs and errors. Even after an update the game still reports an error when it starts on the Battlefield startup page. Can't seem to change load outs and get them to stick. Graphics okay, but not next gen on the PS5. Maps are huge, but seem to lack the excitement that you get with Battlefield 5 maps, which has mayhem and great close quarter battles. Maybe I just haven't found them yet. Shame as we were really looking forward to this. Going back to Battlefield 5 for now until the game is fixed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gave it a chance (Post Season 1 Pass review)
Reviewed in Australia on 15 June 2022

So just like many of you, at first I completely wrote this game off from all the media and reviews on the game saying how awful it is. I saw it on sale for a ridiculously low price here on Amazon and though, why not.. what's the worst that can happen for a low investment. And here's my experience:

As a COD player usually BF is a new experience for me, a LOT slower than COD but you get used to it eventually. If you deploy on your squad members already close to the battle then that's not really an issue you're right back in it. Choosing a character is odd, you select a specialist which has their own unique perks like a recon or assault specialist, then you get a basic load out and away you go.

To be fair, I hated this aspect. It was confusing and your gun selection was like 5 to choose from from ALL the categories like snipers and assaults.

As you progress you unlock new attachments, scopes and parts for your gun which is cool and while playing you can hot swap those parts onto your gun in a pinch, like swapping a 12x zoom to a iron sight on the sniper straight away.

Besides that their some decent character customization you can do and achievements to do and that's kind of all that stood out to me as a noob.

Nether less I played maybe 4-5 hours worth and ended up getting the flow of the game and had some decent fun.

Again for the cheap price, it was TOTALLY worth it, something different to play and no real loss if I don't ever play it again.

Now for the not so good.

Finding a lobby that isnt the main game mode was pointless. No one is literally playing in them (i'd be the only one in the lobby of 42) and when you do get in a small lobby, you're up against AI players, and most of the time if it's not a full server the pace of play is ridiculously slow... like you won't find anyone for 5-10 minutes while you capture bases on your own.

To be fair was playing late at night around 11:30pm at this stage but still, pretty poor effort for a 22 released game.

Graphics were average at best, definitely not on par with COD by any means.

I wish voice chat in game was a thing, only occasionally see PC players typing stuff, so I don't know if no one talks or just in general everyone is just in their own private parties but I digress.

I don't think their is a scoreboard feature, if there is I don't know how to get it up to show.

And finally it's still buggy and glitchy, but definitely better than before.

Overall, if you just want to have some harmless fun and not take the game too seriously then sure pick it up, but don't pay more than $20-30, you'd have more fun on on the ether free older BF games, or on a old COD game.

This is the most un-battlefield game out there FYI, and unfortunately gets stuck in between. Maybe in the future they will bring this game back from the ashes, but yeah give it a go if it's cheap but don't expect the moon.

Online community is dead even though the game only came out recently. Lots of bugs, and clearly rushed out to meet the Christmas sale period. No cross play between PS4 to PS5.

Don't bother supporting this nonsense.
