4.0 out of 5 starsFine, not the same calibre as Sarina Bowen's other work
Reviewed in Australia on 23 January 2022
Competently written but a bit forgettable. I noticed that I put it down a few times and didn't feel very compelled to pick it up. The secondary characters were well written.

On a side note I am a bit tired of reading about super rich people who throw money at their problems and have loads of fancy stuff and fly everywhere - being a one percenter is ethically dubious. It would have been great if the wealthy good guys in this story did something useful or ethical with their money at some point?

3.0 out of 5 starsOpposites attract MM Romance
Reviewed in Australia on 28 February 2022
The Best Men is opposites attract MM romance. This is my first time reading anything written by Lauren Blakely, but having loved Sarina’s HIM series I had to give this a go.

Mark is recently divorced, single dad that rarely steps outside of his comfort zone.
Asher is an ex soccer player turned photographer that lives and breathes spontaneity.

Mark and Asher are thrust together as best men to help organise Mark’s sister and Ashers best friends wedding. That would be awkward enough without Mark’s drunken messages about the ‘super hot wingman’ and Asher can’t let him live it down.

I really enjoyed the opposites attract trope. These two had some great banter and chemistry. The spreadsheet jokes were funny and I did myself genuinely laughing. It is that cute, fluff kinda read so you do know whats going but the ride was still enjoyable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and flirty

It was an expected fun read. The MC's were all snark and hotness, misunderstandings and chemistry. I thoroughly enjoyed this light hearted read. A little heart breaking in places, a lot heart warming in others. Buttoned up tight Mark soon becomes unbuttoned and disheveled in the best possible ways and party boy Asher gets knocked for 6 when his partying days become less fun and more frivolous, not in a good way. Throw a 6 year old darling into the mix and you have a fun, flirty delightful romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Stunning Book!

Sarina Bowen and Lauren Blakely write wonderful m/m stories , this book is no exception.

Mark and Asher are definitely opposites with such snark that kept me riveted throughout.
Both are best men to an upcoming wedding, how they make that work is hilarious .

Drunk texting isn’t the best way but it sure opens up communication!
A great book that I loved , the sensuality between them added with dirty talk makes this book 100% perfect.

Mark is a recently divorced nerdy Wall Street banker with a kink for spreadsheets (my type of man!) and a young daughter, who is brilliant and I loved her! Asher is an ex Soccer/Football player turned photographer living a lavish & single life.

They meet because Mark’s sister is marrying Asher’s best friend and the attraction is there but they’re gonna brood about it first, deny deny and all that. But, a little forced proximity and phew these two were fun!

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun addictive read. Just what the doctor ordered! READ THE PREQUEL FIRST!!!
Reviewed in Australia on 5 February 2022
I was a fan of Sarina Bowen and Lauren Blakely long before I started reading MM. Both authors have the ability to blend humour and emotion, producing a light but meaningful story. Such is the case with The Best Men. I found this book to be an addictive and engaging read.

The writing flowed well, and even though there were two authors, it was almost impossible to identify where one of them stopped and the other started. Their writing styles blended flawlessly into a cohesive whole.

I loved both Mark and Asher. I found Asher's point of view particularly interesting as the playboy seriously considers his life choices and is charmingly insecure.

I think there is only one thing that is not made clear enough anywhere in the book. It is VITAL that the prequel novella, Super Hot Wingman, is read before this book.

The prequel is free on Amazon (at the time of this review). The entire story is set up in this prequel, and the book takes off immediately from it. Although The Best Men could be read without it, it is a much poorer experience, and you miss the considerable story build-up and a lot of humour.

I thoroughly enjoyed my The Best Men experience; the story hit all my buttons at a time when I was looking for a light, funny, romantic, but absorbing read. The Best Men fit the bill perfectly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!
Reviewed in Australia on 30 March 2022
Recently divorced and gorgeously handsome, Wall Street banker Mark, starts a chain of events that would change his life forever! The repercussions of a drunk text to his engaged and very pregnant younger sister, lands him in a bit of trouble and subsequently changes his life forever.

Mark is a recently divorced single father to a beautiful young daughter and rarely steps outside of his comfort zone. Asher is an ex professional soccer player, turned sports photographer, and lives and breathes spontaneity. Mark likes his spreadsheets and to be organised whereas Asher is disorganised and loves to go with the flow.

Four days before the wedding, Asher and Mark meet up in Miami to ensure everything is running smoothly for the wedding. The chemistry between them is unmistakable and it doesn’t take long for a hot attraction to develop between them. I loved everything about these two characters, but I especially the hilarious witty banter and undeniable attraction between them. Oh, and their intimate moments were super HOT!! 🔥🔥

The storyline is funny and very well written and I especially enjoyed listening to the audio book, which was beautifully and perfectly narrated by amazing duo,Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4.5⭐️…One wedding…Two best men... Opposites attract…
Reviewed in Australia on 17 January 2022
Mark Banks, brother of the bride, is a buttoned-up banker, single dad and a bit of a surprise.

Asher St James, best friends with the groom, he’s a globetrotting, a super hot former athlete turned photographer.

Asher digs the hot nerd vibe Mark has going on. He’s not the boring man he mistook him for months ago…

There’s a bit of is he or isn’t he interested? and Asher realises that Mark is struggling with his attraction towards him.

There’s chemistry, desire & unbearable tension. Ignoring this attraction won’t be easy.

Mark has spent the last 6 years working, parenting and being responsible so for him this is a few days in Miami living someone else’s life… It’s a bit of harmless fun… And it’s a bit of harmless fun that turns into a whole lot more…
