I was sucked into a vortex reading this. I could barely force myself to stop for important tasks.
A story includes love, hate, heartbreak, deceit and so much more.

What a heartbreaking story that I can fully relate to a part of it - the words Andi’s Father said to her “ When your being psychologically abused, you soon learn that you don’t matter, that your suffering has no meaning, and that there’s no escape” it took me 3 years in an abusive marriage to realise that - Awesome book 🥰

4.0 out of 5 stars A One-Off By This Author

This is a one-off by this author as opposed to part of one of her regular series. However, I still enjoyed it a great deal. It started off better for me, though, than it ended up. I found I was whizzing through it and then sort of got a bit less interested in picking it up again. No real reason I can put my finger on, though.
I did like Andi and found myself screaming at the nonsense she put up with from her delightful husband, who was just an unpleasant git altogether. Her father is a delight as well. At the end the author poses a question about the characters and whether to feature them again, but it had a proper ending and I was satisfied with leaving it there, personally. I have Tess Winnett to keep abreast of and she already has a new series I am yet to partake of, so I'd stick with those myself.
I loved this passage and highlighted it: "It had large windows to invite the sunlight in to warm their battered hearts" though there were bits that irritated, too. There were a few sentences with words dropped from them (like was or and or the) and then added to sentences where they weren't needed....so it needs a final spit 'n' polish. She doesn't capitalise Mace, either, which is a trade name, apparently. At one point Craig was wondering if they still perform vasectomies, which was an odd thing to be concerned about...why wouldn't they ?? He persisted in holding his swish parties on Thursday nights, too, which I also found peculiar. However, he did mention cancelling one at some point and said Friday in another mistake I noticed. She wrote engrained and not ingrained, too.
I did enjoy all the little snippets from the trial as we progressed, and I always like how she titles each chapter of her books, too.

Wow, an absorbing, spine tingling totally novel take on a murder mystery. A well constructed story that had me on edge waiting for the conclusion. A thoroughly enjoyable read that I finished in one day.

The story is gripping and keeps the reader glued to the pages to find out what happens next. Though the ending could have been a better version with vengeance or absolute justice delivered.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thriller writing at its best!

The Girl You Killed by bestselling author Leslie Wolfe is another fine example of thriller writing that will have you on the edge of your seat. The author again weaves another suspense filled crime thriller with plenty of twists and turns that easily draws the reader in from the opening chapter. It had every element a good story should have. A solid plot, attention to detail, but best of all fleshed out, well-written and well-rounded character development. There’s an abundance of well-illustrated scenes that make you feel you are right there in the story, and that’s something I look for in a good book.

The plot is intricately carved, as the synopsis suggests: ‘Andrea Brafford’s life is nearly perfect. A passionate marine biologist, happily married to Craig, the man she loves, recently moved into a home commensurate with their success to enjoy a life many others only dream about, in one of Houston’s most desirable suburbs. But only a few months later, a trial that dramatically polarizes their town names Craig Brafford as a defendant in the murder of his young wife, shattering the serenity of the peaceful community… Andi’s name is on everyone’s lips, her relationships exposed and torn to shreds in a highly publicized case that has everyone’s eyes glued to the internet. Andrea’s life remains a mystery that investigators and public opinion equally fail to solve. Was she the happy, devoted wife she'd made everyone believe she was?... Only she can answer that question.’

There’s no doubt that The Girl You Killed is an exceptionally well written book. The contrast between tone and content is a characteristic talent of only a few authors. Wolfe pays as much attention to her sentences as she does to her plots, shifting or consolidating meaning with the use of a single word. Her writing is impeccably honed, full of juxtapositions and qualifications that help to create a suspenseful atmosphere throughout. Very highly recommended and a well deserved five stars from me.

If you’re a fan of crime thrillers, mystery and suspense, I would highly recommend anything by this author.

Started reading Leslie Wolfe's novels on a recommendation from Amazon and I've read everything she's written since that first book. Ms. Wolfe excels at page turning suspense and this book is one of her best. Intriguing characters and a deviously twisted plot that will keep you turning the pages until the wee hours of the morning. If you're not reading Leslie Wolfe's books you're missing out on countless hours of reading pleasure. Give her a try and you won't be disappointed!

Andi meets Craig while she is stuck along side the highway with a flat tire. They get married and Craig sabotages her career ambitions. Craig wants a trophy wife to do his bidding. Craig came from a poor family and all he wants is money and more of it. Andi gets pregnant and that is when Craig's diabolical plan goes into place. This novel is one you will not want to put down. A twist I did not see coming.
