I had my suspicions.
I was correct about one person in the story but not quite overall.
Great mystery. Great Author!
Don’t miss out on this one.

3.0 out of 5 starsNot a Psychological Thriller to me

I started this and thought it would be a good start to KL Slater's books but was disappointed. I had been told the end is exciting so kept reading thinking it must be different to what I had thought I had figured out.
I also thought that the daughter Tansy was portrayed as a lot older than her 6 years - more like 11 or 12 to me.
I have a couple more of her books as samples and will maybe try another one later but despite a good plot not well executed. Being her 1st her others may improve.

“In life he was perfect…Now she must face the truth…”

Once again I find myself bowing down to the queen of psychological thrillers! K.L. Slater absolutely slays with this book and I could not get enough! I had barely settled myself in as Slater starts off full steam ahead and with each chapter leaving me wanting more, it was envitable that I was going to pull a all nighter with this one as is usually the case when I read a book from this insanely talented author.

The Widow is a masterclass in the psychological thriller genre and is definitely a must read. Pulled in and tangled up in its glorious wicked web of deceit, I was all there for our lead not knowing who to trust and could feel the pain emanating off her not knowing if her husband was really responsible for the disappearance of a young mother from their village.

I was definitely kept on the edge of my seat with this book and my anxiety levels reached an all time high! I enjoyed the duel timeline and how it all came together and it would not be a K.L. Slater book if there wasn’t some twists and turns along the way, which in this case, is done in spectaculer fashion! All round this is an amazing read and another to add to my best books for 2021!

This was my weekend read and OMG I got nothing else done. I absolutely LOVED The Widow and was engrossed from the very first page. There are some brilliantly drawn characters that simply jump off the page. As ever the author led me down a twisty, turny road of intrigue and suspense and spat me out right at the end. The writing was impeccable and every single chapter worked to construct a web of lies and deceit that drew me ever further into the story. Awesome characters, brilliant storyline, tense pacing and an ending that left me breathless. Highly recommended and a huge 5 stars from me.

The book had all the great components of KL Slater's books. The twist that you never see coming, and the subject deals with multiple social issues of our times. Once you start you cannot put the book down. The characters are well developed and the main character's dilemma is real and as readers, we can feel her desperation. The Widow is a must-read book from KL Slater. And if you have never read her book, please you have to start now to get blown away by her stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars A highly rated book I actually finished!

I like crime fiction and there are almost endless books that are highly rated from well known, or not so well known authors. Sadly many only get around a 30% read as I find the developemnt of characters and plot slow and often of little connected relevance! This book by KL Slater was not like this - it was a joy to read. Characters are well developed without spending ages on each. All fit the plot and sub plots really well and the whole expereince was as described - I struggeled to put it down and even read it on the bike in the gym!
I rarely waste time with reviews but this book was worth it. Enjoy.

Wow. Loved every second of this. When Kate Shaws husband Michael dies after being questioned about the case of a local woman disappearing. Her whole life turns upside down. There are so many secrets and twists in her own town she doesn't know about . She needs to prove her husbands innocence. But deep down she can't deny that even she isn't sure he is
