5.0 out of 5 starsWow.. Was surprised at this bad boy
Reviewed in Australia on 21 December 2019
Got it on sale and was not 100% if this was a "good" buy. You read multiple negative reviews that constantly sway your purchase!. The main one that kept putting me off is the quality of the blade and them falling apart. Well, i have used my one for some time now and can say the following:
1- The shave is good and it does the job. The first time i used it a hacked through a 4 week growth with ease.
2- You will still miss sections if you rush
3- The blade seems to be perfectly fine (still on the first blade) and have taken care to use with caution (due to the reviews)
4- I put mine in a case after use
5- It isn't going to be a blade cut shave (unless you put some time in)
6- I shave with it in about 5-6 mins tops (from a 1 weekish growth).

Yep would recommend 100%

2.0 out of 5 starsNot good if you actually want a clean shave.
Reviewed in Australia on 22 November 2021
Great for shaping.. you could write your name in your beard if you want.. but if you actually need to shave, and have your face be smooth (or whatever you’re shaving lol) this thing is totally useless.. 30 minutes shaving with it and my face we still rough and prickly. I ended up buying a better shaver for twice as much by a better brand a week later. The worst part about it was it was legitimately 30 minutes before I gave up.. this thing is sloooooow. And if you want it to do more than trim a dolls wig, it’s gonna wear out and break soon. So instead of buying this with extra heads, accessories, case, and then buying all Jew heads in a couple months again because they’ve all broken, just get a real shaver instead of this thing.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great product. I wish they never released the cheaper low quality versin
Reviewed in Australia on 14 June 2020

I bought one on Amazon last year.

I did so, because I already owned one (bought in Germany) and thought it would be handy to have one in my travel kit without having to pack my bathroom position and one.

I am Not recommending to buy the version that is sold on Amazon!

My battery died within two weeks.
When you recharge, it’ll last for about half a sheet.

It also does not have an LED indicator charging light -which was indeed part of the original item.

So I guess Phillips has made an attempt to meet customers low pricing expectations – but I certainly would not recommend it

2.0 out of 5 stars OK when it works, but I am on my third unit in 18 months.
Reviewed in Australia on 12 October 2020

This trimmer works OK and as advertised, but it's a true Philips shaver in that it works but breaks easily and overall quality is very poor and as such, I am on my second warranty replacement (so 3 different trimmers) in 18 months.

The goods:
• The item trims beards reasonably well for short and light beards and the dial to adjust cutting trim works well.
• The item is lightweight and has great battery life (when it works)

The bad:
• The original item arrived broken, the blade was off it's hinge rendering it useless.
• The blades are poorly designed and a knock or a drop breaks the blade, making you need to purchase another one for another $20+.
• The battery stopped working after 18 months.
• Trimming a beard close to the skin requires the plastic to scrape the skin which actually irritates the skin and hurts
• Doesn't have enough power to do thicker beards, it's more for a light trim.
• On the 2nd breakage, Philips sent me back to Amazon instead of sorting the issue out, even which Amazon was surprised as it wasn't their responsibility but still honoured the second warranty.

Overall, a decent (not great) unit when it works, but I am now on my 3rd unit in 18 months with light usage, the only good thing I can say about the trimmer is that it had a 24 month warranty.

2.0 out of 5 stars A Bit Awkward to Use
Reviewed in Australia on 11 September 2021

Thought I was getting a good deal with this shaver/trimmer.
Maybe I'm using it wrong but it doesn't shave well at all - weather you go slow or fast.
I was hoping this would replace my manual razor but doesn't even come close to a clean shave.
Also when trimming beard, the way the guard is attached, you have to trim in a reverse direction (towards the trimmer) instead of the way you would with hair clippers for example. Makes it a bit awkward to use and even though the battery is pretty good and power is ok you still have to go back and forth to get a good trim.

2.0 out of 5 stars doesn't trim the mustache well under the nose,
Reviewed in Australia on 26 August 2021

Below Average product.
The worst part is trimming the mustache under the nose as the protective blades get in the way and you end up with longer hairs towards the nose. It can be quite patchy too, you'll find that the trim when using the adjustable guide is quite uneven, you really have to scrape the skin to get an even cut.
Generally a poorly designed product. Honestly, it is not good value for money, it isn't even that cheap for it to be cheerful.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good idea, poor implementation
Reviewed in Australia on 8 October 2019

When I first got the shaver I thought it was amazing. You can get a very close shave and it's far quicker and more convenient than clean shaving - you won't get as close but it's close enough. Trimming is super easy too with the adjustable comb.
HOWEVER! The clips on the blades are extremely brittle and flimsy. They break far too easily and it's almost as if they are designed to break. I've had two break. Extremely disappointing because otherwise, it's a decent product.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very slow shave and not very close
Reviewed in Australia on 15 May 2022

Standard razor is about three times quicker to shave. The Philips is OK and will get a short shave but not too close. It's comfortable but takes some time to achieve. Good to know now but no way would I purchase again. I'll be sticking with a standard razor.

Incredibly inconsistent and unwieldy to use with the attachments, only useful if you want to remove all hair, absolutely useless for trimming

While the device is easy to use and clean, I found it can't handle longer/wavy beard. There are parts it simply can't reach. It's also not great for sensitive skin.

Doesn't really do a good job at a close shave, and the head is too small for trimming hair.. Not a fan
