To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
This is not about the music of the times. It is a clip of TEASER performances that is used to get the people to buy a film featuring individuals who did not perform at the festival. The Summer of Soul ran from June 29, 1969 until August 24, 1969. It is advertised as running during the Woodstock event, BUT Woodstock was from August 15, 1969 until August 18, 1969. So Woodstock only overlapped SOS for three days. Take NOTE: Sly and the Family Stone performed at Woodstock.
The performances are basically substandard for the performing artists. But, the added political statements by the "Guests" are of high quality and they consume nearly 3/4 of the viewing time. Is ti worth watching, YES, only because it shows how Americans with African ancestry could have used this base to launch so many things. The togetherness that is displayed should have blossomed into so significant things.
One more observation: I doubt if there were 50.000 people in that park every day. Another thing, who provided the funds for the summer long events? The crowd was there when established artists were there.
Recommended, but don't have high musical expectations.
