Arrived in prompt quick delivery too service. Bought to rewatch as recall watching this on vhs tapes years ago.seen again on dvd.but just a good movie. As one of van damm fine roles. Hunt and intense rush. Great story.film centres around exotic new Orleans settings.
Involves a wicked run mercenary group racket hiring homeless veterans for amusement to hunt by clients tycoons played to take part and kill.laced with dark humour. van damm gets caught up by helping a women searching for reasons and becomes a target of lance henriksen hunt forces him to use all his skills standing up to them fending off and making a stand.enthralling electrifying action stuff good sequences.keep you absorbed in watching. Worth viewing.

One Of Van Damme's Best Films

I first saw this film on VHS video back in 1993. I have always enjoyed it and, in fact, I regard it as one of Jean-Claude Van Damme's best films of all time. It keeps you watching until the end and it is full of action. I give it the full five stars. It was an action film classic back in the 1990s and it still is, in my opinion. This was before CGI came along and ruined everything for action film fans. Sit back, crack open a big box of popcorn, switch off your brain and enjoy!

Van damme is back with a mullet that Mel Gibson would be proud of, in John Woos first western film.

a great story and great production values make this one of Van Dammes best movies. Homeless people are being hunted for money by rich people. One guy gets killed, and his daughter is looking for him. Just as she is about to get mugged by some goons, good old Van Damme saves the day.

She then pays him money to help her find dad. When he turns up dead, Van Damme finds himself involved in the game. Now the hunters become the hunted.

Fantastic from beginning to end, Hard Target is more of a fairy tale than a proper action movie if you read between the lines. Van Damme can run down a road quicker than it takes a bike to get him there. Guns never seem to run out of bullets, and the damsel in distress gets saved in the nick of time.

We never really learn much about Van Dammes character, which leaves a bit of mysticism to him. Being a Woo movie, you expect over the top set pieces, and he doesn't fail to deliver.

From a desolate street, to a warehouse shootout, Woo pulls no punches, and knows that every death is as absurd as the last.

camera-work is good, and there are some good tricks used throughout to make the film a little more tense.

it's a showcase for director and star, and neither fails to impress.

funny, crazy, guilty pleasure stuff.

This is a film that I loved back when it was released on VHS, back before dvds were a thing.

Sadly it has not aged well. The effects are badly dated and the story is full of worn out cliches.

Still love van damme's mullet mind.

3 stars maybe more than it deserves and if I didn't have nostalgic memories of love for this film, it would probably be a 2.

A great flick, this, Death Warrant & Sudden Death
i hold in high regard. But Hard Target is a bit special,
everything looks great, moves great & sounds great. Great!.
Director John Woo can do this type of stuff with his eyes shut
and his style smothers the whole film. Excellent.
Loads of slow mo, tons of face close ups & a shed load of bullets.
Wilford Brimley seems to be having a whale of a time, and is
also double funny, whilst Lance Henriksen menaces.
Nearly forgot, this is the U.K 18 cert Blu Ray, and the picture
fills the whole of a modern T.V (1.85:1) and looks great. Personally
i'd say it was uncut, but don't hold me to that, check out some of the
quality reviews and you should get more precise info. Top draw entertainment.

Saw this at the cinema when it first came out.good action sequences and very violent from start to finish.Lance henriksen is good as the bad guy.Van damme and his mullet are ok.this john woo,s first american film so you have the usual doves floating around and some sadistic violence.I you are looking for war and peace or in this case war and war don,t bother.Turn your brain off and just watch the pictures.Plot which is paper thin, vagrants in New orleans are being paid to be hunted by wealthy business men set up by henriksen.Daughter turns up looking for her father only to be told he is dead,JCVD helps her try and get to the bottom of what is going on.Dvd is not very good picture quality is poor especialy as you have to zoom which diminishes picture quality further.Ratio 1.85.1 and not much in the way of extras only some notes.Not as good as i remember it.

What a movie. I grew up watching this movie.Van Damme does a great job in Hard Target. This is a true Hollywood big shot picture.The story is great and the actors fit their roles very well.its full of action and you will enjoy it. The quality on blu ray is great. The detail is all there. Any Van Damme fan must have this on their collection.
