Caitlin Kelly is a young author with her main artistic emphasis on film. In her free time, she writes as an escape. She writes stories, poetry, songs, thoughts, etc. She self-published her own book at 16 years old, "the words of a madman," a collection of poetry. After about a year after this release, she decided to release "the words i wish i said," published at 17 years old. She plans to keep creating and sharing her work. She released her third book, "the perks of solitude" on April 7, 2021. She then went on to publish her fourth collection of poetry on January 27th, 2022. These works are collected from the ages of 17-20.

First, let me say that I never write reviews but after reading this book, I felt compelled to do so. My 15-year old daughter saw this book on TikTok and asked that we purchase it for her. The book was in a package with another item I had purchased so I thumbed through it, mainly because it has such high ratings and when a teenager requests a poetry book, well...my curiosity was peaked. What I can tell you is, I’m so glad I intercepted this book and in no way, shape, or form will I be giving this to my teen. I have one message: PARENTS PLEASE READ THIS BOOK BEFORE GIVING IT TO YOU CHILDREN. This is the most horrific garbage I have ever seen. It is full of nothing but teen angst and suicidal ideation. I would contact the publishing company to give them my thoughts but they weren’t proud enough to put their name in the book - almost like they KNOW the book is vile garbage but, hey, there’s a buck to be made so what the hell. Here are some excerpts from this book: “take a gun to my head because I’d be better off dead.” “I wish I could take a knife and end my life.” “...only if I blow my f@&$ing brains out.” And this one, “twinkle twinkle little star let me get hit by a car jump off a roof and try to fly oh god I wish I could die twinkle twinkle little knife help me end this wretched life.” How is this kind of content on? Why are we, as a society, pissed about Dr. Seuss but this kind of content is ok and getting 5 stars???!

Ich bin sehr überrascht und dankbar, dass ich es gelesen habe, bevor ich es meiner Tochter gab.
Ich verstehe nicht, wie ein so negatives und pessimistisches Buch so viele positive Kritiken oder Rezensionen bekommen kann.
In vielen Sätzen ist von Selbstmord die Rede!
Meiner Meinung nach ist es Blödsinn, dass sie, anstatt Menschen, die sich unsicher fühlen, zu motivieren und ihnen mehr Mut zu machen, Dinge sagen, die völlig negativ sind und ihnen jeden Aspekt von Mut nehmen.
Heute kam es an und heute ist es auf dem Rückweg... obwohl der beste Platz der Mülleimer wäre.

I don't see what people like about this book. Nothing in there give you hope for life, nothing uplifting. It's all negative, saying no one will help you out or support you, so do it yourself. It's just some teenage girls whining about being a victim of everything.
